Former Wanderers duo Ben Jackson and Amadou Bakayoko have found new clubs ahead of the upcoming season.
Jackson has joined Barrow from Huddersfield for an undisclosed fee, putting pen to paper over a three-year deal at Holker Street.
The 23-year-old had a loan spell at Bolton during the second half of the 2020/21 campaign, scoring a vital winner at Morecambe as Ian Evatt’s men secured an unlikely promotion.
He also had a stint at Doncaster before returning to Huddersfield, playing 27 times last term as the Terriers were relegated from the Championship.
Jackson now heads to Barrow as the Bluebirds aim to build on their eighth-place finish in League Two last season, narrowly missing out on the play-offs.
He told the club website: “I’m really excited. I think it’s a really good opportunity to come here, play some games, (prove) a lot of people wrong and really start enjoying my football again.
“Once I heard about the interest, I was quite intrigued and saw it as a good opportunity to come and play football in a team where the ambition is the get promoted and be in and around the play-offs.”
Meanwhile, Bakayoko has joined Japanese club Consadole Sapporo, who are currently bottom the J-League.
Bakayoko arrived at the Toughsheet Community Stadium in the summer of 2021 following a spell at Coventry.
The forward found the back of the net 13 times the following season, including a memorable late equaliser at the Mazuma Stadium.
He headed to Forest Green in January 2023 in search of more regular minutes but had a tough start as the club suffered relegation to League Two.
Bakayoko spent last term on loan at Dundee in the Scottish Premiership, scoring seven goals as the side achieved a top-half finish.
The 28-year-old became a free agent earlier this summer and his new club find themselves eight points adrift at the foot of the table, having won just three league games since the start of the campaign.
