Nat Ogbeta is eager to show what he can do in the Championship following his loan spell at Wanderers.
Ogbeta spent the second half of last term at the Toughsheet Community Stadium, playing 17 times including the play-off final against Oxford at Wembley.
The wing-back was released by Swansea at the end of last season and became Wayne Rooney’s first signing at Plymouth.
Ogbeta made a couple of Championship appearances during his time at the Swansea.com Stadium and is now determined to kick on with the Pilgrims.
"I feel like when you simplify the game then everything is just down to you and your desire, your hunger to be the best that you can be every day,” he told Plymouth Live.
"That's what the gaffer was as a player, he was determined to be the best every time, and that's the sort of environment he's creating - everyone is competing, everyone wants to be the best and show the gaffer how good they are.
"You want to be in a competitive environment where you are being challenged day-by-day, and I feel like the gaffer is doing an amazing job. It has been a great start."
The 23-year-old was given the freedom to get forward and make an impact in the final third at Wanderers, scoring on his debut at Carlisle. He is keen to continue that trend at Home Park.
"Sometimes managers can just see you as one position and be like, 'I'm just going to leave you there'. But the gaffer is trying to find a way to bring everyone's strengths into fruition so we can all shine,” Ogbeta added.
"Thankfully, the gaffer has seen something in me that I can be more on the inside, I can go wide, and he has given me the licence to be the best I can be rather than being a left-back that is just being caged and has to stay back.
"It's allowing me to express myself and that's what I have always wanted to do - be able to affect the game going forward. I’m just really happy.”
Plymouth, who secured safety on the final day last season, kick off the new campaign with a trip to Sheffield Wednesday on Sunday, August 11.
