Former Wanderer Cameron Jerome has been training with Stockport County ahead of the upcoming League One season.

Eagle-eyed supporters spotted Jerome in some of the videos posted by the Hatters from their training camp in Spain.

Jerome joined the Whites from Luton Town in January 2023 and went on to make 55 appearances, scoring four goals.

He found the net three times in as many games at the back end of last term and also came off the bench during the play-off final against Oxford at Wembley.

The 37-year-old was released at the end of last season along with Jon Dadi Bodvarsson and Declan John.

His brother, Ruben Jerome, joined Bury earlier this summer following an impressive campaign with Emley AFC.

Stockport are preparing for life in the third tier after clinching the League Two title under Dave Challinor last term.

The Hatters were in the National League when Challinor returned to Edgeley Park to take charge of the side in 2021.

Stockport have brought in 11 new signings so far this summer, including highly-rated forward Michael Mellon on loan from Burnley.

Earlier this month, Challinor told the club’s official channels: “We recognise there is work to be done, which is exciting and a challenge.

“It is a new squad and a new division, but we feel real potential. Hopefully, we can provide a platform for the players we have brought in to fly.

“We think they all have qualities that will help our team and help us evolve and progress.

“It is our job, and their job, to make sure that their qualities dovetail in order to make us an efficient team.”

The Hatters kick off the new season with a home fixture against Cambridge United on Saturday, August 10.

Wanderers are set to make the short trip to Edgeley Park on Saturday, November 9 with the reverse fixture at the Toughsheet Community Stadium pencilled in for Saturday, Match 15.
