The dates for Wanderers’ Bristol Street Motors Trophy group games have now been confirmed.

The Whites begin the group with a trip to Holker Street to face Barrow on Tuesday, September 3 (7.45pm).

It will be a reunion for Bolton boss Ian Evatt, who guided the Bluebirds to promotion from the National League before taking charge at the Toughsheet Community Stadium.

Wanderers then have a home fixture against Aston Villa Under-21s on Tuesday, September 24 (7.45pm).

The group stage concludes with another home fixture against Fleetwood Town on Tuesday, November 12 (7.45pm).

The Cod Army were relegated from League One last season and Charlie Adam, one of Evatt’s former team-mates at Blackpool, is preparing for his first full season in the hot seat at the Highbury Stadium.

Wanderers won the competition in 2023 following a memorable 4-0 victory against Plymouth Argyle in front of nearly 80,000 supporters at Wembley. Kyle Dempsey, Dion Charles, Elias Kachunga and Gethin Jones were all on target against the Pilgrims that day.

The Whites made it to the quarter-final stage last term but were knocked out by Blackpool on penalties following a goalless draw at Bloomfield Road. Peterborough went on to lift the trophy, beating Wycombe 2-1 at the national stadium.
