The EFL has announced a multi-year agreement with CBS Sports to offer “the widest distribution of EFL matches ever in the United States”.

The US channel will broadcast at least 250 matches each season from the Championship, League One, League Two, Carabao Cup and Bristol Street Motors Trophy.

The agreement will begin at the start of the upcoming campaign in August and run until the end of 2027/28.

“Appetite for football in the North American markets has been growing year on year, and this partnership with CBS Sports and their leadership in covering the sport marks a significant milestone,” said EFL chief executive Trevor Birch.

“The EFL is already broadcast to a global audience of 400million across 182 territories, beaming into more than 250million homes outside of the UK.

“We believe that American fans will embrace the excitement, tradition and competitiveness that is embodied by our EFL competitions.

“This is an exciting time for the League and our clubs, and we look forward to sharing our matches with viewers across the United States.”

CBS’ coverage is guaranteed to feature 155 Championship matches, 38 League One and League Two matches, 30 Carabao Cup ties, three Bristol Street Motors Trophy matches and all 15 play-off ties.

Further matches can be selected for broadcast within two weeks of the game. EFL clubs will be able to stream remaining fixtures for international fans through in-house services such as WanderersTV.

CBS’ opening weekend coverage has been confirmed but Bolton’s trip to Leyton Orient is not among the games being broadcast live in the US.

Additional matches and studio coverage will be announced “in the coming weeks” and there will also be EFL analysis and commentary on the Sports Golazo network.
