Portsmouth boss John Mousinho has ruled out a move for Wanderers target Karamoko Dembele this summer.

Pompey are preparing for life back in the Championship after clinching the League One title last season.

However, Mousinho insists that 21-year-old Dembele is not a player they are looking to bring in.

He told The News: “There’s nothing in that at the moment, that’s another one there’s no preparing or readying a bid.”

Dembele is one of the options Bolton are investigating to replace Paris Maghoma, who made a big impact while on loan from Brentford.

He spent last season on loan at Blackpool, scoring nine goals in 47 games as the Seasiders narrowly missed out on the play-offs.

The youngster is under contract at Brest until the summer of 2026 and has been linked with a queue of English clubs.

Portsmouth have a tough start to the Championship season, on paper, which begins with a trip to Leeds on Saturday, August 10.

Mousinho’s men also face the likes of Luton, Middlesbrough, West Brom, Burnley and Sheffield United in the first couple of months.

Pompey have brought in five fresh faces so far this summer as they prepare to make the step up to the second tier.

Perhaps the most notable addition is Josh Murphy, who scored twice for Oxford against Wanderers in the play-off final. The winger was available on a free transfer after turning down a new deal at the Kassam Stadium.

Jordan Williams, who played against the Whites for Barnsley in the semi-final, has also headed to Fratton Park.

Earlier this month, Mousinho vowed insisted his side will “attack every game” despite their daunting fixture list.

"I want us to relish it, these are brilliant games and are massive for us but we are not going to be daunted by it,” he told BBC Sport.

"We are going to make sure we take the chance to prove ourselves at this level. The standard will go up.

"I don’t think you get away with mistakes at this level, you have to be at the top of your game for every minute.

"But this is where we want to be, we don’t want to be in a league where you can get away with little things. It will be a difficult step up but one we are really looking forward to."
