Atherton Laburnum Rovers FC are attempting to attract residents to their Crilly Park stadium with free season tickets for those in its surroundings.

The club, which is in the North West Counties Football League Division One North, announced the free season tickets with a post on social media.

They are available to any residents of the Hag Fold area of the town in a bid to make football more accessible and more affordable at a time when the cost of living, including the cost of football, is on the rise.

The club came second to St Helens in Division One North last season, losing out to South Liverpool in the play-off semi-final, but they are aiming to go one better with the backing of bigger and bigger crowds.
