Bury have made prolific striker Ruben Jerome their first signing of the summer.

Jerome joins from Emley AFC and was the top scorer in the NCEL Premier Division last season, finding the net 39 times as his side clinched the title.

The 29-year-old began his career at Southport and went on to have spells at Ramsbottom, Workington and Warrington Town.

His brother, Cameron, recently departed Wanderers and previously played in the Premier League for the likes of Birmingham and Crystal Palace.

Manager Dave McNabb is excited to work with Ruben next season and hopes he can continue his ruthless form in front of goal.

He told the club website: “Ruben is a player I’ve come across many times and he’s always impressed.

“He’s an all-round striker, he’s quick and powerful and can play on the shoulder, as well has holding the ball up and allowing players to play off him.

“He has a great range of finishing and is a proven goalscorer at this level and higher.”

The Shakers are preparing for another season in the NWCFL Premier Division following their penalty shoot-out heartbreak against Wythenshawe Town in the play-off final.

It will be McNabb’s first pre-season with the squad, having taken charge at Gigg Lane last September following Andy Welsh’s departure.
