Former Wanderers favourite Daniel Sturridge still knows where the net is.

Sturridge played in a charity game at Selhurst Park over the weekend, which has been watched by more than 5.5million people on YouTube.

The 34-year-old scored a late equaliser and brought back his trademark celebration, which led to a pitch invasion at the Premier League ground.

The match featured a number of YouTube personalities and was set up to raise money for the Water Project, which helps provide clean water to students and families in Kenya.

Although he never officially retired, Sturridge has been without a club since leaving Australian outfit Perth Glory in 2022.

The pacey forward began his career at Manchester City before heading to Chelsea in the summer of 2009.

He joined the Whites on loan in January 2011 and it didn’t take long to become a popular figure among the Bolton faithful, scoring a late winner on his debut against Wolves.

Sturridge only made 12 appearances for the club in total but had a big impact during his brief stay, scoring eight goals as the side finished 14th in the Premier League under Owen Coyle. That included a brace in a 3-0 victory against West Ham.

The striker made nearly 100 appearances at Stamford Bridge before he was snapped up by Liverpool in 2013. He would spend six years on Merseyside, scoring more than 60 goals for the Reds.

Sturridge also won 26 England caps on the international stage, scoring a memorable winner against Wales in the Euro 2016 group stage.

He went on to have spells at West Brom and Turkish club Trabzonspor before heading to Australia in 2021.
