SHARON Brittan won a top honour at the SHEIN Women’s Football Awards, held in Mayfair on Thursday night.

The Wanderers chairman won the prize for Football Business Trailblazer at the prestigious awards, which was attended by some of the biggest names in football.

Former England international and TV pundit Eni Aluko, who co-hosted the event with former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher, said: “The 2024 SHEIN Women’s Football Awards was, once again, a landmark moment for the sport.

“The best of the best were celebrated including Bolton's Sharon Brittan who is a real inspirational role model to women in the football industry.

"She has demonstrated a dynamic approach to building up Bolton Wanderers in recent years and is very deserving of this honour."

BBC favourite and former Arsenal and England star Alex Scott scooped a prestigious prize as top female footballers including Manchester United's Mary Earpsand Maya Le Tissier also landed gongs on a successful night for the Lionesses.

Meanwhile, Manchester City striker Bunny Shaw was named Player of the Year after bagging 21 goals in 18 games for the Women’s Super League runners-up.

The SHEIN Women’s Football Awards, in its second year, also struck an emotional chord as Kerry Davis, the first black woman to represent England, was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award by Olympic champion Denise Lewis to loud cheers on a star-studded night in Mayfair.

Brittan's award followed thousands of public nominations and a judging panel which involved footballers Nikita Parris, Missy Bo Kearns and sports pundits Micah Richards, Jamie Carragher and Hayley McQueen.

A host of celebrities including Everton hero Dominic Calvert-Lewin, ex-Manchester United and England defender Rio Ferdinand, musician Pixie Lott and other Olympic heroes including Dame Kelly Holmes.

England Women manager Sarina Wiegman was presented with the Manager of the Year Award while Manchester United took home an award in the Best Fan Engagement category.
