N – Polish winger signed in late seventies. Transfer fee involved tractors.
O – Now Wolves boss, Bolton’s player of the year in 2019.
P – Bolton Coroners Office is on the phone. Big Finnish striker.
Q – South African midfielder played between 2006 and 2007. Also played for United.
R – Welsh utility defender. Uncle was jockey John Francombe. Signed by Gary Megson.
S – Scored the goal at Manchester City which secured the 1996/97 league title.
T – Midfielder signed by Ian Evatt, now assistant coach of the B Team.
U – Which player scored the promotion clinching goal at Wrexham in 1988, then partied in his underpants?
V – Homegrown midfielder now in the colours of Carlisle United.
W – Burnden legend. His autobiography was called ‘One Hump, or Two?’ X – X marks the spot. Whose penalty secured promotion against Preston North End in 1993?
Y – Youngest player ever to turn out for Wanderers? Went on to play and score for England.
Z – Zero – the number of goals scored by this legendary Irish full-back, who won the European cup with United before helping Wanderers into the First Division in 1978.
