Ian Evatt says Wanderers have “one or two issues” on the injury front as they prepare to host Shrewsbury.
A couple played through the pain during Saturday’s draw against Portsmouth and the quick turnaround is far from ideal.
“We have got one or two issues from the weekend that we will have to manage and change a little bit,” Evatt revealed.
“But we have got a good squad of players that we back to get the result on any given day. Fingers crossed, that can happen on Tuesday night.”
The manager added: “We had some players playing with issues on Saturday who managed to get through it.
“A quick turnaround is not ideal for them but we will monitor it, see how they are overnight and make a call.
“We have possibly picked up another injury as well which is not ideal, but we are waiting to hear the news from that.
“I am not going to disclose any more than that for obvious reasons but as always with us, it is slightly complicated!”
In more positive news, Dan Nlundulu has continued to make progress and could return to the squad soon.
Wanderers created some good chances in the final third against Pompey and there was a tinge of frustration they did not take all three points.
“I am pretty positive,” Evatt continued. “Ideally, we would want to have our destiny in our own hands and the frustrations from Saturday are when you perform as well as we did, it warrants three points.
“But football does not always work that way. We are still fighting and if we can perform consistently the way we did on Saturday, I believe that we will be OK.
“It was a good game, I thought it was a real good advert for League One football and we showed what a good team we can be. It is really important we do that again on Tuesday night.”
Finishing in the top two is back in Derby’s hands, but Evatt has been in the game long enough to know that nothing is guaranteed.
“We know that a win would add some pressure to Derby on Saturday, I think Portsmouth are out of reach now,” he explained.
“We have to do all we can to win and then see what happens on Saturday. You never know in football, all we can do is look after ourselves.
“I told the players this morning, I believe that it is still in our hands – not necessarily in terms of automatic promotion but if we can perform like that, it gives us a great chance of getting promoted in some way.”
