An opening goal from Enock Lusiama for Atherton Collieries was not enough as Bamber Bridge earned all three points at the SFC Stadium in Tuesday night’s NPL Premier Division clash.

Goals from Harry Scarborough, and late on for Christopher Churchman and Jack Baxter for the hosts cancelled out the Colls early effort.

Lusiama’s goal came with only five minutes on the clock. He received it from strike partner Lewis Mansell just inside the area, before slaloming past three Brig defenders to place the ball into the far corner of James Pradic’s net.

The Colls lead did not last for long as a little over 15 minutes later, Scarborough would find himself in behind the Colls’ back line and he made no mistake, triumphantly powering the ball past Tom Donaghy.

A procession of chances from both teams followed with Oli Putnam’s deflected effort forcing a back-tracking Pradic to claw it off the line, the best chance for either team before the interval.

After the break, it was very much a continuation of the chances for both sides with Colls captain Mansell going closest for the visitors as he blocked a Pradic pass, but that bit of luck they needed was nowhere to be seen.

That lack of luck showed once again for the Colls when a well-worked set-play from Brig lured Colls out and an expert ball managed to find Churchman, who placed the ball into the corner to give the home side the lead with 20 minutes to play.

And as Colls pressed and pushed up to find an equaliser, the lack of men at the back cost them as Baxter managed to get in behind to slot past Donaghy on the cusp of full time to give the Brig all the three points,

It leaves Colls with it all to do as they look to retain their Premier Division place, sitting second bottom and five points from safety.

Colls return to the Skuna Stadium on Saturday for a big home clash against FC United of Manchester (3pm).
