Wanderers’ upcoming League One fixture against Shrewsbury Town at the Toughsheet Community Stadium has been re-arranged.
The match was initially due to take place on Saturday, March 23 but will now be played on Tuesday, April 16 (7.45pm) due to international call-ups in the Bolton squad.
It will now be played between the fixtures against Portsmouth and Port Vale, meaning the Whites have three successive home games near the end of the season.
Ian Evatt’s side have had a hectic fixture list over the past few months due to games in hand from postponements and their progress in the cup competitions.
Bolton will now have a break between the trips to Derby on Saturday, March 16 and Stevenage on Good Friday.
Ian Evatt is looking forward to getting some time on the training pitch after a relentless block of fixtures.
“We will have some key time on the grass, which we have not been able to have because of the number of fixtures,” said the Bolton boss.
“One theme I have noticed with this group while I have been manager is that our best performances come off the back of time on the grass.
“When we have those clear periods of time where we can work on things, reinforce what our ideas and play really looks like, then I think the players really respond to it and perform at a higher level.”
Shrewsbury currently find themselves 20th in the League One table – four points above the drop zone heading into the business end of the campaign.
Paul Hurst returned to the club as head coach in January, replacing former Bolton midfielder Matt Taylor.
Wanderers ran out 2-0 winners at Shrewsbury in November thanks to second-half goals from Paris Maghoma and Aaron Morley.
