WANDERERS (3-5-2).
JOEL COLEMAN…5.
Made a couple of very reasonable saves but blotted his copybook with some really rash races off his line, including the one to spark the scramble which led to Santos’s red card.
GETHIN JONES…5.
Won’t be pleased with his performance on the day from a defensive side and was slow to react for the first goal.
RICARDO SANTOS…5.5.
Didn’t deserve to have his afternoon cut short by a red card but hadn’t been switched on for the second goal. Still felt a little off the pace.
EOIN TOAL…6.
The best of a bad bunch at the back and did the simple stuff pretty well. The whole back line will know they have to improve if Bolton are to be successful.
JOSH DACRES-COGLEY…5.
Missed a big chance to put Wanderers level and his delivery from wide areas was hit and miss. How Bodvarsson and Dempsey ended up defending the cross for the second goal is anyone's guess.
KYLE DEMPSEY…6.5.
Looked up for the battle and caused the home side some issues down the right side, including the cross that led to Thomason’s goal.
JOSH SHEEHAN…5.5.
Struggled to get into the game in what was a frantic midfield and an unpredictable playing surface. When Sheehan plays well, so do Bolton. Case closed.
GEORGE THOMASON…6.
Not everything came off but took his goal well and put himself around trying to get Bolton back into the driving seat.
ZAC ASHWORTH…6.
Bit of a mixed bag from the left side but was always available and saw plenty of the ball. Up against two very decent players in Gabriel and Dembele.
CARLOS MENDES GOMES…6.
His day will be summed up by that poor finish in the first half but some of his work around the penalty box wasn't bad at all.
JON DADI BODVARSSON…6.
Some of his link-up play was good and a little unlucky with the near-post effort saved by Grimshaw. Needs to make these starts count with goals, though.
Subs: Maghoma 71 (for Sheehan), Collins 76 (for Mendes Gomes), Adeboyejo 76 (for Bodvarsson), Morley 86 (for Dempsey), Iredale 87 (for Ashworth).
Not used: Forrester, Jerome.
MAN OF THE MATCH – Kyle Dempsey.
Showed plenty of fight, got into some good positions on the right side, and didn’t do a lot wrong on the ball. Wasn’t a vintage day for Bolton but he can hold his head up.
MOAN OF THE MATCH – Wanderers lost their composure completely after conceding the first goal. Poor refereeing or not, they had to react better than they did.
MAGIC MOMENT – For a brief moment Thomason’s goal separated the sides and it looked like Bolton were heading for a great result. Less said about the rest, the better.
Blackpool (3-5-2): Grimshaw; Pennington; Ekpieta, Husband; Gabriel, Byers, Norburn, Coulson, Dembele; Lavery, Beesley.
Subs: Lyons 46 (for Coulson), Joseph 46 (for Lavery), Morgan 80 (for Byers), Hamilton 85 (for Dembele), Casey 87 (for Husband).
Not used: Kouassi, O’Donnelll.
