Talented Bolton boxing prospect, Sam Akinsete, won the British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) Championship under-80kg category at an event held in Portsmouth by the national governing body for higher education sport in the UK.
The 19-year old, who trains at Elite Boxing Gym, in Halliwell, secured two first-round stoppages under 60 seconds.
The win at the BUCS Boxing Championships final earlier this month means he remains undefeated, with an impressive 10-0 amateur record.
Alex Matvienko, trainer and owner of Elite Boxing Gym, said: “In 20 years I’ve trained many amateur and professional champions and been in world title fights - and Sam has huge potential to be another star”
The teenage fighter added: “I had a tough few fights, but they brought out a different side of myself.
“I showed many different styles over this tournament, I was able to show my boxing IQ as well as my killer instinct in knowing when to step it up.”
Akinsete is another of the successful production line at Elite and the gym is always open to new members.
