Wanderers begin a busy week on the road with a trip to the Abbey Stadium to take on Cambridge United.
The Whites had to settle for a point at the weekend after a 1-1 draw against Barnsley, with Zac Ashworth cancelling out Devante Cole’s early opener.
Ian Evatt’s men are third in the League One table but still have three games in hand on leaders Portsmouth heading into the business end of the campaign.
Team news
Wanderers have a few injury concerns following their clash with the Tykes, but Evatt was reticent to name names.
George Thomason is back from suspension, having missed the last couple of league fixtures but featuring at Blackpool in the EFL Trophy.
Gethin Jones is also back available after returning from Qatar, where he represented Australia in the Asian Cup.
Randell Williams is still sidelined with a hamstring issue, while Dan Nlundulu and George Johnston are long-term absentees.
Opposition lowdown
Cambridge enter the game on the back of a 2-1 victory at Shrewsbury, with Lyle Taylor bagging a brace either side of half time.
Taylor’s winner was set up by Elias Kachunga, who joined the U’s on a free transfer in the summer following his Bolton exit.
Cambridge are unbeaten in their last four games under Neil Harris, who took charge in December following the departure of long-serving boss Mark Bonner.
Head-to-head
Wanderers have faced Cambridge 19 times in their history, with a record of seven wins, eight draws and four defeats.
The points were shared when the Whites headed to the Abbey Stadium last season following a goalless draw. Kyle Dempsey was sent off for a second bookable offence 15 minutes from time.
The sides last met in April 2023, when Sam Smith scored a late equaliser after Declan John had put Bolton in front at the Toughsheet Community Stadium.
Wanderers haven’t won any of their last six trips to Cambridge, with their last victory there coming in May 1985.
