Cambridge boss Neil Harris has tipped Wanderers for promotion to the Championship ahead of Tuesday night’s clash.
Ian Evatt’s men currently sit third in the table, although they have three games in hand on leaders Portsmouth.
Cambridge enter the game in high spirits following a 2-1 victory at Shrewsbury at the weekend, with Lyle Taylor bagging a brace either side of half time. Harris’ side are unbeaten in their last four games, picking up eight points along the way.
“It will be a good challenge,” he told Cambridge Independent. “What Ian has done is build over a period of time, over various transfer windows.
“They have got themselves out of the mire as a football club and they have had to put some hard yards into it, so well done to them for doing it.
“But they have been able to build into a club that has just spent a lot of money on a player from our division. They have earned the right to do that over a period of time – we understand and respect that.
“They are a really, really good side. We know there is a big challenge in front of us, but we are in a great place and we have earned the right to enjoy and attack the game.
“We don’t fear the opponent one little bit and we are really looking forward to a Tuesday night under the lights at the Abbey.
“The big boys are coming to town and we are the underdogs, but we will go out and play our game.”
Harris took charge at Cambridge in December following the departure of long-serving boss Mark Bonner.
“Bolton are a difficult side to play against in whatever system you play because they are very good at finding solutions and they have got very good players for the level,” he added. “That is why I think they will get promoted this year.
“They are a difficult side to press so you have to make sure that you don’t give a lot of space away, so we have to make sure that we have got the same resilience and mentality that we have had in the last four games and that will set us in good stead.
“But we are playing at home and we do want to cause Bolton problems as well.”
