LUKE Matheson could still leave Wanderers on loan before the transfer deadline.
Ian Evatt confirmed he has had enquires about the former Wolves full-back, who has impressed in a handful of appearances for the first team this season.
Matheson has been part of Evatt’s squad on several occasions but with the loan signing of Liverpool’s Calvin Ramsay, it was decided to try and find him a loan club to help his development.
With no move confirmed by mid-afternoon, Evatt said he was waiting to see what the next few hours would bring.
“I have had some phone calls and we are just waiting on the uptake, really,” he said. “If we don’t think it is the right fit or the right club for him and his style of play then he won’t be going anywhere.
“We need to look after him because he is a really good young talent.
“We will see what arises and then make the best call for him.”
Nelson Khumbeni completed a loan move to League Two Morecambe until the end of the season, earlier in the day.
The former Norwich midfielder has also had a taste of first team football under Evatt and been a regular in the B Team set-up.
Evatt was pleased to get him to a league club and hinted that a couple of his team-mates could follow him and Eric Yoro, who signed on loan for Cliftonville, in gaining experience elsewhere.
“It is a good move for Nelson and gets him playing in League Two, which is I believe the standard he should be playing right now, with an eye for improvement.
“There are one or two bits of business in Ireland as well, but we will wait and see on that one.”
