Leyton Orient coach Matt Harrold admitted Wanderers had “two of the best chances” despite coming up short at Brisbane Road.
Dion Charles hit the post from close range on the stroke of half time and was denied by Sol Brynn after the break.
Dan Agyei got the decisive goal early in the second half as Orient continued their strong form in League One.
“Even in the first half, I thought we were positive,” Harrold told the club website. “We limited them to one really good chance.
“It was a dominant display and I think we were the better team, but I do think they have had two of the best chances of the game.
“I thought our aggression, we were on the front foot and forced them into a lot of mistakes. I thought it was a strong performance.”
Harrold was carrying out the post-match media commitments after Richie Wellens was shown a red card by referee Alex Chilowicz for preventing Randell Williams from taking a throw-in.
“That is probably our frustration, that it did feel like they were picking the ball up and gaining probably five yards,” he continued.
“Look, it is just a split second reaction. I have just seen it again and it does look pretty light, he hasn’t elbowed him or grabbed him but he has maybe just stopped his momentum.
“It is maybe a touch harsh but you just don’t know, with the rules now, what you can and can’t do. It was a strange one, I have never really come across that situation to be honest. We will have to see.”
The result Wanderers remain ninth in the table, although they still have at least two games in hand on the sides above them.
The Whites are back in league action on Tuesday night when they welcome Cheltenham to the Toughsheet Community Stadium (7.45pm).
