WANDERERS will wait on the results of a precautionary pitch inspection on Friday before travelling to London for their League One clash with Leyton Orient.
Freezing temperatures across the UK have placed a number of lower league games in doubt this weekend, even though conditions are forecast to improve on Saturday.
Leyton Orient do not have undersoil heating and certain parts of the pitch are shaded, which could present an issue.
O’s ground-staff have covered the pitch and taken every possible precaution but will run a check tomorrow lunchtime to give both teams and sets of supporters ample warning if there is a postponement.
Wanderers will train at Lostock as normal tomorrow morning and will set off for the team hotel if match officials give the go-ahead.
A statement from the club said: "Leyton Orient will hold a precautionary pitch inspection tomorrow (Friday) ahead of Wanderers’ weekend trip to Brisbane Road.
"Due to the distance Wanderers and their supporters will be travelling for the League One fixture on Saturday (KO 3pm) - and the current weather conditions - the O’s have confirmed an inspection will take place at the Gaughan Group Stadium on Friday afternoon.
"Depending on the result of Friday’s inspection, a further inspection may be required on Saturday morning.
"Local weather forecasts predict that temperatures in East London will be above freezing from the early hours of Saturday morning.
"Wanderers will provide further up-dates in due course."
