A place in the FA Cup fourth round is on the line when Wanderers welcome Luton to the Toughsheet Community Stadium.
The Whites held their Premier League opponents to a goalless draw at Kenilworth Road in the initial tie earlier this month.
It has been a difficult few days for everyone at Bolton after Saturday’s clash with Cheltenham was suspended due to a medical emergency in the crowd, and it has since been confirmed that lifelong fan Iain Purslow sadly passed away.
Team news
Randell Williams was absent against the Robins due to hamstring tightness rather than anything more serious.
Ian Evatt says the decision to leave Williams out of the squad against Cheltenham was made with the games against Luton and Leyton Orient in mind.
Wanderers have no other injury concerns apart from George Johnston and Dan Nlundulu, who are long-term absentees.
As for the visitors, Mads Andersen misses out with a calf injury which could keep him out of action for a couple of weeks.
Opposition lowdown
Luton currently sit 18th in the Premier League table as they aim to build on last season’s promotion from the Championship.
The Hatters enter the game on the back of a 1-1 draw against relegation rivals Burnley, with Carlton Morris scoring a controversial equaliser in stoppage time after ex-Bolton loanee James Trafford was blocked by Elijah Adebayo.
Rob Edwards’ squad were due to head abroad for a training camp after their visit to Turf Moor, but those plans had to be put on hold.
Head-to-head
Wanderers have faced the Hatters 37 times in their history, with a record of 17 wins, 10 draws and 10 defeats.
Prior to the recent 0-0 draw, the Whites hadn’t faced Luton in a competitive fixture since a 6-2 victory in January 1997, also in the FA Cup. John McGinlay was among the scorers that day.
That fixture was also a replay after the initial tie at Kenilworth Road had finished 1-1 several days prior, with Jamie Pollock getting on the scoresheet.
