It was a night to remember for Dion Charles and Eoin Toal, who were part of Northern Ireland’s 2-0 win against Denmark in Belfast.
Charles got on the scoresheet with a cool finish past Kasper Schmeichel after getting on the end of Conor McMenamin’s low cross.
It was his third goal on the international stage, having bagged a brace against San Marino earlier this year. The Bolton forward also hit the post during the opening stages.
Meanwhile, Toal played the full 90 minutes alongside Paddy McNair and Ciaron Brown in the back three as they kept a dangerous Danish attack at bay.
It was the former Derry City defender’s third cap at senior level, having made his debut against Slovenia last month.
Michael O’Neill’s side went into the game knowing they could no longer qualify for next summer’s Euros in Germany but ensured they finished the campaign on a high.
Meanwhile, Carlos Mendes Gomes made his first international appearance for Guinea-Bissau during their 1-0 victory against Djibouti in a World Cup qualifier.
The 25-year-old, who recently returned from injury, played more than 70 minutes before making way.
Mauro Rodrigues got the decisive goal six minutes before the break, but Guinea-Bissau finished the game with 10 men after Houboulang Mendes was given his marching orders.
Mendes Gomes is keen to impress ahead of the African Cup of Nations, which takes place in January and February. If selected for the squad, the Bolton man would certainly miss the League One games against Cheltenham and Leyton Orient.
Guinea-Bissau have been drawn against hosts Ivory Coast, Equatorial Guinea and Nigeria in the group stage.
Elsewhere, Josh Sheehan will be hoping to get some minutes on the pitch when Wales host Turkey in their final Euro qualifier tonight (7.45pm).
Rob Page’s side currently sit third in Group D – two points behind second-place Croatia, who face Armenia.
