Young Horwich martial arts star Blaize Tingle continues to add to his bulging trophy cabinet after more success at home and abroad recently.

First up, the multi-talented 11-year-old travelled to the Middle East for the Abu Dhabi Jiu Jitsu Pro (AJP) World Youth Championships.

The brackets were divided which meant Blaize had three matches to secure gold.

With not a single point was scored on him, all three matches were won via submissions.

His final was against a tough Russian, but he again proved to be the best in his division.

Blaize’s school, St Joseph’s High School, are extremely proud and his coaches from his clubs are too.

He trains Jiu Jitsu at Hamma, in St Helens, and Next Generation, in Liverpool.

He also has private sessions with top coach Lee Simpson.

His base in wrestling helps his Jiu Jitsu and for that he trains at Aspull, Bolton and Y Club.

Not content with his glory in Abu Dhabi, Blaize competed in Jiu Jitsu again last weekend, at the Empire Grappling Greater Manchester Open in Wigan, winning double gold.

He picked up top spot in both the GI/Kids/Advance/-45.3kgs/Junior 2 section and No-GI/Kids/Advance/-45.3kgs/Junior 2.

It does not stop, either, with a wrestling event in Eccles shortly, followed by a trip to Helsinki, in Finland, for the second biggest wrestling competition in Europe.

Proud mum Jayne said: “This kid is clearly a hard-working, talented athlete that will go far.

“We are still looking for sponsorship to help as all these competitions are self-funded and as a single mum it’s extremely difficult.

“But he deserves to show his talent to the world and has high hopes to make the Olympics.”
