A trio of young girls from Bolton Rugby Club performed well at a cluster event in Manchester on Sunday.

Aisha Abdi, Eve Barrow, and Phoebe Mellon represented the club with grit and determination teaming up with Liverpool St Helens for the day.

The first game was against a joint team from hosts Manchester Rugby Club and Rochdale.

The Bolton/LSH girls proved too strong for the opposition and won 8-1.

There was a lot of great work from the Bolton girls in particular, both in tackling and support play, though they could not get on the scoresheet in the first game.

In the second game, they played against Trafford Metrovicks and it was a similar story, proving too strong for the opposition.

Again, the girls won this one 7-3 and the Bolton trio were outstanding in defence, in particular, counter rucking and tackling.

All three girls got involved and harassed the opposition into making poor decisions, which the team were able to score from.

Aisha scored a great try from the kick off going the full length of the pitch.

The last game was between the two unbeaten teams as Bolton and LSH came up against Winnington Park and Aldwinians.

This game was a very even match, and both teams were committed, Bolton winning the game 5-4.

It took quite a while to break the deadlock but it was Bolton/LSH who scored first.

The tackling was fantastic from all three of the Bolton girls and it was noted by some of the Liverpool St Helens parents.

Aisha scored another long-range effort, that was set up by Eve offloading in the tackle.

All in all, the three girls were fabulous and very committed on what was a cold and wet day in Manchester.
