Solihull Moors boss Andy Whing hopes his side can learn from facing an “excellent” Wanderers side.
The Whites ran out 4-0 winners in the FA Cup opening round after goals from Ricardo Santos, Paris Maghoma, Will Forrester and Dion Charles.
Whing was frustrated with the goals his side conceded but only had positive things to say about Ian Evatt’s side.
“It was a tough day,” the manager explained. “They are a very good team by the way, I am really impressed with them.
“But if you look at it, two set-pieces and two free headers. A mistake for the third and even the fourth, we have let it bounce in the box. It is not like they constantly carved us open.
“I thought we were better than we have been in the last few weeks in terms of creating chances. We were brave on and off the ball, we were aggressive. We know we can be better on the ball.”
He added: “I am gutted, it’s a game of football and you want to win. But they are some team with a fantastic manager and coaching staff. Hopefully, they go up this season.”
Solihull currently sit fourth in the National League table as they aim to as they aim to push for promotion into the EFL.
“I keep saying to the players, we want to epitomise what Bolton are,” said Whing. “I think they are absolutely fantastic - the way they play, progress forwards and create chances.
“We want to get to that and we are nowhere near that, we are only scratching the surface. I am really excited about what we can do.
“We want to use days like today, it is a fantastic occasion, and we want to be doing this regularly. Hopefully, we can take bits from today and progress.”
Skipper Jamey Osborne was shown a second yellow card in stoppage time following a late challenge on Charles near the touchline. Whing was also booked by referee Scott Simpson for his protests.
“That is why I get frustrated at the end, this job is hard enough as it is and I don’t think it was a yellow or a sending off,” he continued.
“There is no need for it and thinking about the repercussions further down the line, that game was gone and it didn’t need to happen. But that is by the by.”
