ALL five of Wanderers’ striker options scored in a behind-closed-doors friendly win against Bradford City this afternoon.
Dion Charles, Victor Adeboyejo, Jon Dadi Bodvarsson, Dan Nlundulu and Cameron Jerome all found the back of the net in a 5-2 win at the training ground at Lostock.
Andy Cook and Tyler Smith replied for the Bantams, who fielded a strong first-team line up.
Wanderers used their full squad and also welcomed Ricardo Santos back from illness.
The club captain had missed the previous two friendlies after looking after his son and then picking up a virus himself.
Mark Hughes’s League Two Bantams had pulled back to level the game at 2-2 after Charles and Adeboyejo set the Whites into an early lead.
Northern Ireland international Charles had been rested for Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Chester but got back into the scoring groove as he ran on to Jack Iredale’s incisive through ball to open his account for the summer.
Adeboyejo then pounced on Kyle Dempsey’s cross to make it two, having earlier been denied by a fine save from Colin Doyle.
Wanderers continued to create chances through Aaron Morley and Randell Williams but then showed some defensive sloppiness either side of the break to allow Cook and Smith to get the visitors back into the contest.
Half-time sub Bodvarsson headed Bolton back in front and Nlundulu also scored his first goal of the summer when Gethin Jones’s low centre was parried into his path.
Jerome then completed the rout with another close range finish, his second goal of the friendly schedule coming via a Kieran Sadlier ball from the right.
“It was a really good performance,” said Bolton boss Ian Evatt. “We still could and should have scored more and there were a few sloppy bits, conceding-wise.
“But in general it was another step forward. I’m really pleased that all the strikers scored today and pleased that we created a lot against a good benchmark, as well as having Rico back and getting some minutes in for him.”
