WANDERERS are set to launch a new subscription service to supporters bringing behind-the-scenes interviews and video footage from the club for £5 per month.
Christened ‘Wanderers TV’ the new venture will be launched on Tuesday morning with the promise of “lifting” the current content being offered online.
A year-long subscription to the Wanderers TV service will be available for £50 and will also work in tandem with a new app, which will be launched at the start of the League One season.
Wanderers have revamped their website and will not be using the iFollow service to stream matches this season, bringing match commentary and production in-house.
When a new TV deal starts at the end of this season, UK-based supporters will not have the same access to games, with many more due to be broadcast or streamed by Sky Sports.
Prices for this season’s games will remain the same for both UK and international fans. An international pass for the 2023/24 season is £140 until September 1.
Match passes are not included in Wanderers TV subscription.
Club CEO Neil Hart told The Bolton News: “We launched the new website on Thursday and I think it looks fabulous. It is clean, fresh, and there will be more to come on that, we’ll build as we go.
“Wanderers TV will be launched on Tuesday morning. It will be part of the website and there will be a Wanderers TV tab on there, so fans will have the chance to look around on that for more content.
“We will launch the international match passes immediately, so supporters can buy their season-long pass and access games via the stream. The domestic pass will come in later in the month but well in advance of the Lincoln game.
“Everyone needs to be aware that the streaming strategy changes at the end of the 2023/24 season, Sky Sports will have a red button version of that. We will not be able to stream games domestically via Wanderers TV.
“There is a subscriber package where fans will have the chance to pay for behind-the-scenes content, access in terms of interviews with Ian, myself, Sharon and the board.
“I think we are trying to lift our content, and we’ll be really honest, everything we are doing is trying to put us on a better footing, commercially. We are trying to commercialise our digital content. When you look at the way that Derby and Charlton have done that really well, so we have looked at those clubs and taken some best practice. We have looked at Premier League clubs as well.
“It is a really exciting thing and there is a load of content coming. Fans can sign up to Wanderers TV and be a part of it.
“The third phase, which will be launched in and around the start of the season is the new BWFC App.
“That is really exciting and will mirror the website, we’ll have a match centre in there, and there will be interesting features, ticketing and retail.
“Any fan who wants to give us feedback, just email me here, we’re open to it, and any suggestions.”
Wanderers fans have turned out in force again this summer to purchase season tickets, with more than 15,000 now sold. Many have also put money into the club’s bond scheme, which raised £4.5milion.
Hart said he was hugely grateful for the backing: “Football should never surprise me, I’m going into a 23rd season in the game, but 15,300 season tickets is absolutely unbelievable. Amazing.
“I think the fans know that Sharon, myself, Ian, the board, we are all working really hard to create a strong and stable Bolton Wanderers every single day.”
