B Team boss Matt Craddock believes being around the first-team squad will inspire Wanderers’ youngsters.
Max Conway, Matt Tweedley, Nelson Khumbeni, Arran Pettifer, Lamine Toure and Sam Inwood all featured in the 3-1 win at Curzon Ashton last night.
Craddock has challenged the youngsters to kick on from here and show what they are capable of, starting with tonight’s friendly at Lancaster (7pm).
“A few of the lads were involved last night and I think that gives them the motivation and inspiration to kick on today,” he told the club website.
“They can do it around first-team players. The challenge is to do it when first-team players aren’t there. I’m looking forward to seeing how they do.”
Ben Andreucci, Charlie Hayes-Green and Trevon Bryan are all set to be involved at the Giant Axe after joining from Leeds, Liverpool and Burnley respectively.
“Hopefully, we’ll be able to see what we’re trying to do,” Craddock added. “The lads have been really good in pre-season, in taking on information. We are trying to instil the identity of the first team in what we do.
“Our lads have brought into it and the new lads are starting to understand what we want from them.
“They have worked really hard and trying to buy into what we’re doing and, in time, that’s a really good combination.
“I’ve enjoyed the last two first team games and it will be another good one tonight, seeing what the lads can do. It will be a good challenge for them.
“Lancaster are a good side - the same level as Bamber Bridge who played our first team on Saturday - and I think it will be a really good game. I’m looking forward to it.”
Craddock’s side also have friendlies against Longridge and Atherton Colls coming up before the new season gets under way.
