Wanderers will host League Two Barrow in the opening round of this season’s Carabao Cup.
The tie sees Ian Evatt reunited with his former club, having guided the Bluebirds to promotion into the Football League before joining the Whites.
Evatt’s men beat Barrow 3-2 in the EFL Trophy last term thanks to goals from Dapo Afolayan, Jon Dadi Bodvarsson and Elias Kachunga.
Wanderers overcame Salford in the opening round last season following an emphatic 5-1 home victory.
The Whites were knocked out at the following stage by Premier League side Aston Villa despite taking the lead through Dion Charles.
The competition is regionalised at this stage, with separate draws taking place for the northern and southern sections.
The draws were carried out live on Sky Sports by former Tottenham defender Michael Dawson and ex-Portsmouth boss Danny Cowley.
All first-round ties are scheduled to be played on the week commencing Monday, August 7.
