Wanderers are reportedly set to land right-back Josh Dacres-Cogley on a free transfer.

The 27-year-old, who made 52 appearances in all competitions last season, is a free agent after his Tranmere deal expired.

Dacres-Cogley has also been linked with League One rivals Bristol Rovers and Port Vale in recent weeks.

But the Whites have won the race for his signature, according to a Patreon report by Alan Nixon.

The full-back came through the ranks at Birmingham and went on to play 13 times for the Blues at senior level.

He also had a loan spell at Crawley during the 2019/20 campaign, making 16 appearances in total at Broadfield.

Dacres-Cogley has spent the last coupe of seasons at Tranmere, becoming a key figure for the Birkenhead club.

The club finished 12th in League Two last season, with Micky Mellon sacked in March after a poor run of results.

Wanderers have also been linked with Bristol City wing-back Kane Wilson as Ian Evatt looks to bolster his squad ahead of the upcoming season.

The Whites are short in numbers on the right side of the back five, with Conor Bradley returning to parent club Liverpool after a superb season in League One.

Gethin Jones has also been used as a wing-back at times, while Randell Williams slotted in on the right during the 3-2 win against Bristol Rovers on the final day of the regular season.

Wanderers have already completed one bit of business this week, landing goalkeeper Nathan Baxter on a two-year contract following his Chelsea exit.

The Whites are also closing in on ex-Ipswich and Huddersfield shot stopper Joel Coleman, who was born in Bolton and played for North Walkden as a youngster.
