James Trafford has been named in the final England Under-21 squad for this summer’s European Championship in Georgia and Romania.
The goalkeeper has been rewarded for his consistent performances while on loan at Wanderers over the past 18 months.
Trafford kept 22 clean sheets last season in 45 League One appearances last term, helping Ian Evatt’s side achieve a top-six finish in their second season back in the third tier.
He made his debut for the Under-21 side 12 months ago, keeping a clean sheet in an emphatic victory against Kosovo.
The Manchester City youngster will now compete with West Brom’s Josh Griffiths and Brighton’s Carl Rushworth for the number one jersey.
Lee Carsley’s squad head out to their base in Kobuleti later this week following the recent training camps at St George’s Park.
Their first game of the tournament is against Czech Republic on Thursday, June 22 (5pm) before facing Israel on Sunday, June 25 (5pm).
The Young Lions conclude the group stage against Germany on Wednesday, June 28.
