Gethin Jones has shared a message to Wanderers supporters after he was ruled out of the play-offs due to injury.
The defender was forced off during the first half of the 3-2 win at Bristol Rovers on the final day, picking up the injury while setting up Shola Shoretire’s opener.
Jones has been an important figure for the Whites this season, making 46 appearances in all competitions.
The 27-year-old should be back for pre-season but will have to watch from the sidelines during the upcoming semi-final ties against Barnsley.
He wrote on his Twitter page: “Not the way I wanted the season to end for me personally, but we still have three massive games left to get this club closer to where it belongs.
“Whilst I can’t be on the pitch contributing, I’ll be doing my bit for the lads from the sideline.
"Thank you to all the supporters for your backing so far, let’s help the team get the job done!”
While Jones’ injury is a blow for the Whites, Ricardo Santos and Eoin Toal both returned to action at the end of the regular season.
Ian Evatt’s men head into the play-offs in strong form, having lost just one of their last 10 matches in all competitions, including the memorable 4-0 win against Plymouth in the Papa Johns Trophy final at Wembley.
Barnsley finished fourth in the League One table as they aim to make an immediate return to the Championship under Michael Duff.
The Tykes were beaten 2-0 by Peterborough on the final day and are now without a win in their last three games.
Wanderers ran out 3-0 winners at Oakwell in January, with Dion Charles, Jon Dadi Bodvarsson and Kyle Dempsey all getting on the scoresheet.
But Duff’s side came out on top at the UniBol in the FA Cup first round despite Bodvarsson’s late header.
