Wanderers have already secured a top six spot but their final league position will be confirmed this weekend.
Ian Evatt’s men booked their place in the play-offs following a professional 2-0 win against 10-man Fleetwood at the UniBol.
The Whites will now face Barnsley or Sheffield Wednesday over two legs, while Derby and Peterborough will battle it out for the remaining spot.
Wednesday have had an impressive campaign under Darren Moore and narrowly missed out on the automatic promotion spots, which were claimed by Plymouth and Ipswich.
However, the Owls will be without key man George Byers after the midfielder’s season was cut short by a hamstring issue.
Mallik Wilks and Akin Famewo are also set to miss the remainder of the campaign with muscle injuries.
But it isn’t all doom and gloom for Wednesday, who were boosted by the return of key man Josh Windass against Shrewsbury at the weekend.
The forward hadn’t featured since the 1-1 draw at the UniBol in March but came off the bench for the final minutes against the Shrews. He has scored 15 goals in 39 matches since the start of the season.
Barnsley have also suffered a couple of injury blows ahead of the play-offs, with the fitness of key defenders Mads Andersen and Jordan Williams now in doubt.
Andersen missed Saturday’s 4-4 draw against MK Dons due to an abductor problem, while Williams picked up a hamstring issue.
However, midfield duo Adam Phillips and Luca Connell are both back in contention for Sunday’s final day clash with Peterborough.
Of course, Evatt and Wanderers have had their fair share of bad injury luck over the past few months.
The Bolton boss was forced to name a new-look backline while Ricardo Santos, Eoin Toal and Luke Mbete were all out of action.
George Johnston and George Thomason also had spells on the sidelines before returning for the Papa Johns Trophy final against Plymouth at Wembley.
Meanwhile, Jon Dadi Bodvarsson and Jack Iredale are long-term absentees with knee and ankle injuries respectively.
