WANDERERS (3-4-1-2)
JAMES TRAFFORD…8.
Came up with some big saves and was unlucky with the one goal that actually beat him. Wanderers fans were begging him to stay – and no wonder.
GETHIN JONES…7.
Went close to scoring in the first half, bringing a decent save out of MacGillivray. Defended well against Burton’s aerial onslaught.
MJ WILLIAMS…7.
Even though Walker found a way past him for the equaliser you’d have to say it was a sold night once more for the defensive new boy.
GEORGE JOHNSTON…7.
Thought he had scored with that far-post header which nearly dropped for Thomason. Battled hard all night to protect the penalty box.
CONOR BRADLEY…7.
Battled against a poor patch of the pitch in the first half but still combined with Morley for the goal. Never stops running, even when it isn’t coming off.
AARON MORLEY…6.5.
His shot led to the goal, and there were a few moments of class on the ball. Mistake in midfield gifted a big chance to Kirk after the restart.
GEORGE THOMASON…8.
The type of scrappy game he normally enjoys, and looked full of energy as he rattled into challenges across the park. Great to have him back.
RANDELL WILLIAMS…6.5.
Got into the game more the longer things went on. Importantly, he won plenty of aerial balls, which was a must on the night.
KYLE DEMPSEY…6.5.
Busy, as ever, and had a couple of sights of goal. Quite an effort considering the 90 minutes he’d put in at Oxford on Saturday.
DION CHARLES…6.5.
Keeper pulled off one good save in the first half after a clever dummy had got him through on goal, otherwise it was another night of hard pressing from the front.
VICTOR ADEBOYEJO…7.5.
Probably his best game in a Bolton shirt so far. Would have liked his goal to be the winner but his hold-up and link play was genuinely encouraging.
Subs: Jerome 74 (for Charles), Nlundulu 74 (for Adeboyejo).
Not used: Dixon, John, Sheehan, Shoretire, Kachunga.
Burton Albion (3-4-2-1): MacGilvaray; Brayford, Hughes, Moon; Oshilaja, Smith, Powell, Ashworth; Helm, Kirk; Taylor.
Subs: Walker 59 (for Smith), Carayol 71 (for Kirk), Shaughnessy 81 (for Helm) Not used: Garratt, Winnall, Ahadme, Gilligan.
Referee: Andrew Kitchen – 5/10: Seemed to settle down in the second half after some random decision making in the first 45 minutes. Maybe needed some help from his fellow officials in spotting some of Burton’s infringements?
Attendance: 3,328
