Cambridge boss Mark Bonner boss hopes his side can build on their “important” win against Fleetwood.
Bonner’s side are battling to beat the drop and currently find themselves 22nd in the League One table with seven games to go.
But the Cambridge chief was encouraged by their display on Friday afternoon and hopes they can keep getting points on the board.
“We need back-to-back wins a number of times before the end of the season to stay in the league so we have to win these games,” he told Cambridge Independent.
“It’s really important and I thought we were worthy of it. I thought we were excellent, a really good performance and a spirited performance, but also some real good quality in there as well.
“I think there is a group of players there that understands the situation and they’re playing like they’re desperate to do well. They got the balance right between physical intensity but quality as well.
“Probably the thing I’m happiest with is how we came out in the second half - not just sitting on a 1-0 and trying to see a whole game out because in our situation, it can be very easy to get a bit anxious.
“We didn’t, we really took the game on in the second half and I thought we were brilliant for 20 minutes.
“We really had complete control of the game until they scored and then it gets a bit edgy and hairy towards the end. But I thought it was a top performance, a really well deserved result and important three points that closes the gap and keeps it alive.
“If we want to take it to the last week we need to keep getting results and push ourselves in the big games we’ve got coming up.”
The points were shared when the sides met at the Abbey Stadium back in November, with Wanderers finishing the game with 10 men after Kyle Dempsey was shown a second yellow card.
The Whites’ last win in the fixture came in February 2022 when Amadou Bakayoko and Dapo Afolayan were both on target in a 2-0 victory at the UniBol.
