Exeter assistant manager Kevin Nicholson expects Wanderers will be “right back at it” this afternoon after their Wembley heroics.
The Whites ran out 4-0 winners against Plymouth in the Papa Johns Trophy last weekend following an emphatic display in the capital.
Ian Evatt’s men have gone three weeks without a game in the league but remain in the play-off places heading into the business end of the campaign.
Nicholson believes it is a good opportunity for the Grecians to “see where we are at” in front of a sold-out crowd at St James Park.
“Sunday was a great performance from them,” he said. “They are a great team, going for promotion, a massive fanbase, and a former Premier League club. It is great for us to go against them and see where we are at.
“We did that against Barnsley and came out the right side of it, and the staff, players, fans, looking forward to Friday.
“We will worry about Bolton and then see where we are at and be ready for the challenge that they will bring.
“They are a good team with really good players, but this is an opportunity to challenge against a team going for promotion and there will be an incredible atmosphere.
“But we have to go about our business as individuals and as a team and make sure we are difficult to beat and get through as they play good football, but also that we can penetrate and attack.
“We are ready for the threats that they bring but we can hurt them and it will be a high quality game of football.”
Wanderers ran out 2-0 winners when the sides met earlier this season, with Conor Bradley and Dion Charles both getting on the scoresheet.
Nicholson added: “Promotion is their number one priority. I am sure that they were delighted with how Wembley went for them.
“But I can guarantee that after one night of enjoying it, they were right back at it and looking at the threats that we can bring.”
Exeter have won their last four matches at home and currently sit 11th in the table as they aim to build on last season’s promotion from League Two.
