Wanderers have been named in the top 20 sustainable clubs in the EFL, according to a new report.

The study, which was produced by Sport Positive, awards clubs points based on several key areas such as energy and transport.

The table was released this morning and has the Whites joint-16th along with Wycombe, Wigan and Bradford. 

Forest Green were crowned the most sustainable club across the Football League, which comes as little surprise.

Owner and chairman Dale Vince has made the headlines plenty of times in recent years after introducing a wide range eco-friendly measures, such as becoming the world’s first carbon-neutral football club in 2018.

Bristol City were runners-up, having received praise for the work they have done in the local community. The Robins have committed to cutting their greenhouse gas emissions to ‘Net Zero’ by 2040.

Norwich and Watford also rank highly, while Sunday’s Papa Johns Trophy final opponents Plymouth complete the top five.

An EFL spokesperson said: "Climate change is an issue that all industries including football must face, so highlighting best practice work of EFL clubs is an important part of our collective progression to ensure we become environmentally sustainable.

"With much more to do across the league, game and wider sport, the EFL remains committed to support our clubs who are all at various stages of their sustainability journey."
