Several members of the Wanderers squad could be in action for their respective nations during the international break.
Dion Charles, Conor Bradley and Eoin Toal have all been named in Michael O’Neill’s first Northern Ireland squad since returning to the hot seat.
It is Toal’s first call-up to the senior team, with the defender impressing in League One since breaking into the Bolton side. Meanwhile, Bradley and Charles have both been regulars at international level in recent months.
O’Neill’s side make the trip to San Marino on Thursday, March 23 (7.45pm) before hosting Finland on Sunday, March 26 (7.45pm).
Both fixtures are part of their European Championship qualifying campaign ahead of next summer’s tournament in Germany. Denmark, Kazakhstan and Slovenia have also been drawn in Group H.
Elsewhere, James Trafford could feature for the England Under-21 squad against France at Leicester City’s King Power Stadium on Saturday, March 25 (5pm).
Lee Carsley’s side also take on Croatia at Fulham’s Craven Cottage on Tuesday, March 28 (7.45pm) as they step up their preparations for this summer’s Euro Finals in Romania and Georgia.
Manchester City loanee Trafford made his debut for the Under-21 side in a 5-0 win against Kosovo last summer.
Luke Mbete has also been selected for the England Under-20 squad, who have a trio of matches during the break.
Ian Foster’s side face Germany at the Manchester City Academy Stadium on Wednesday, March 22 (7.30pm).
They will then head to the Marbella Football Centre in Spain to take on the United States on Saturday, March 25 before coming up against France three days later.
The fixtures are part of their preparation for this summer’s Under-20 World Cup, which takes place in Indonesia. Most of the squad were part of the group which won the UEFA Under-19 Championship last year.
Ian Evatt is pleased to see members of his squad involved on the international stage and reckons it is proof of the progress the club has made in recent years.
Speaking earlier this month, he told The Bolton News: “It is every player’s dream to play for their national team, and I am happy we have international players here because it means we are doing the right things.
“It is great credit to everyone involved that we have got ourselves into the position to have that standard of player again, and as we develop and get better there will be more. It is par for the course really.”
