Former Wanderers boss Gary Megson has thanked supporters for the tribute paid to his late father at Hillsborough.
Don Megson was a legend at Sheffield Wednesday and also served as a scout for the Whites while his son was in charge.
A minute’s applause took place before kick-off as Ian Evatt’s men drew 1-1 against the Owls on Friday night.
The ex-Bolton manager told Alan Biggs: “Thank you to every one of the supporters of both teams for the tribute paid at last Friday’s match.
“My family, both here and in America, watched it with tears streaming down our faces. My dad would have been humbled and overcome as well.
“I’d like to thank Liam Dooley, Trevor Braithwait and the chairman, Dejphon Chansiri for organising it.”
Megson spent a decade at Hillsborough - making more than 400 appearances in total for the Yorkshire outfit - and is widely regarded as one of the best left-backs in the club’s history.
He also had a spell at Bristol Rovers before hanging up his boots and went on to manage the Gas for five years.
Megson later had a stint in charge at Bournemouth and worked with the likes of Norwich, Stockport, Blackpool and West Brom in a scouting capacity.
Gary spent a couple of years in the hot seat at Wanderers and oversaw a memorable 1-0 victory against Manchester United in 2007, with Nicolas Anelka getting the decisive goal.
He departed the club in 2009 after a tough run of results in the Premier League and later returned to Hillsborough as manager.
The 63-year-old’s most recent job was at West Brom, where he served as assistant head coach to Tony Pulis.
