Matt Craddock was pleased to see George Johnston and MJ Williams return to action in the 3-2 friendly defeat at Burnley – and is hopeful that Lloyd Isgrove’s injury is “nothing to worry about”.
Johnston managed over an hour and Williams was withdrawn five minutes from time as the pair stepped up their respective recoveries.
George Thomason and Lloyd Isgrove were also named in the starting line-up, with the latter opening the scoring. However, the Welshman was forced off midway through the first half.
Finlay Lockett was also on target for the young Whites, who led twice at the Gawthorpe training ground.
Isgrove’s opener was a clinical finish, finding the bottom corner with a low drive across goal after latching onto Thomason’s pass.
The hosts got back on level terms with a stunning free kick after Lamine Toure was caught on the ball in his own half. Ellis Litherland had absolutely no chance in the Bolton goal.
A Burnley forward then dragged wide after a mazy run, before Thomason’s goal-bound effort was blocked at the other end.
After the break, Wanderers regained the lead when Lockett found the top corner with a thumping strike.
But the hosts scored twice in quick succession to turn the game on its head, including another fine free kick.
When asked about Isgrove’s withdrawal, Craddock told The Bolton News: “(It is) nothing to worry about, I don’t think.
“He just felt a little something in a tackle and we were definitely playing on the side of caution today. Any little thing and any of those lads would have been coming off.
“I think he is absolutely fine, he just had to sit and watch the rest of the game. But he is in good spirits and I don’t think it is anything to worry about.”
He added: “The fact we have had those lads who have come back from injury and managed to get some minutes in their legs, that is really positive.”
Craddock's side are back in friendly action on Tuesday night when they make the trip to Edgeley Park to face a Stockport County B side (7pm).
Litherland (Hutchinson), Tutte (Kamara), Toure, Johnston (Loureiro), Isgrove (Trialist), Williams (Sharples), Thomason, Khumbeni, Sackey (Inwood), Stanley (Trialist), Lockett
