Lancaster City boss Mark Fell has heaped praise on Wanderers youngster Matthew Tweedley.
Tweedley headed to the Giant Axe on loan as he continues his development, having shown some promising signs in the Central League this season.
The midfielder has got some valuable experience in the Northern Premier League top flight so far and almost managed to get on the scoresheet against Morpeth Town at the weekend, hitting the post woodwork with a thumping strike from 25 yards.
Fell reckons he is an exciting talent and is delighted to have him on board as the Dolly Blues aim to keep climbing the table.
He told The Lancashire Post: “Little Matty Tweedley is going to be a star. He’s one of those players who when he gets the ball, you think something exciting is going to happen.”
Tweedley is one of several Bolton youngsters currently out on loan, with the likes of Adam Senior, Connor Stanley, Luke Hutchinson and Max Conway learning their trade in the non-league pyramid.
The midfielder is one of several additions to Fell’s squad in recent months, and he is pleased with the calibre of players they have been able to bring in.
The manager explained: "We have been able to bring in some really high quality reinforcements.
“We always work hard with our recruitment. If a manager hasn’t got his eyes and ears on pretty much everything around them, then he is not doing his job properly.”
He added: "They have all just dropped into the group really well.”
Lancaster sit 11th in the table and have won their last three league fixtures following Saturday’s 2-1 victory against Morpeth.
Fell’s side are back in action this weekend when they make the trip to Nantwich Town, who are battling to beat the drop.
