Former Wanderers defender Liam Edwards has shared a message on social media following an injury scare.
Edwards was taken to hospital after suffering a blow to the head during Chester’s 4-2 win against Banbury at the weekend.
The 26-year-old has now been cleared of serious injury and is grateful for the support he has received since the incident.
He wrote on his Twitter page: “Can’t thank Luke Davies and all the other medical staff enough. Appreciate your messages, be back soon.”
Edwards made eight first-team appearances for Wanderers and was part of the ‘Junior Whites’ side that held Coventry to a goalless draw in 2019.
He also spent the best part of two years on the sidelines with a serious knee injury during his time at the UniBol.
A club statement read: “We are pleased to report that Liam Edwards has been cleared of serious injury.
“He is recovering and in good spirits. We’d like to say thank you to the medical teams and stewards for their assistance.”
Manager Calum McIntyre also praised the club’s medical staff for their swift response after the incident.
He told Cheshire Live: “Our medical team and Luke Davies is brilliant. He dealt with it really well and, equally, the support staff and the St John’s ambulance.
“It wasn’t a nice place to be, it wasn’t nice to see. He is someone I think a lot of, obviously as a player, but as a person.
“All our group are like that. I thought the response from the medical team was terrific.”
Edwards has been a regular starter this season as Chester battle to win promotion to the top flight of the non-league pyramid.
McIntyre’s side currently sit third in the National League North table – five points behind leaders King’s Lynn heading into the business stage of the season.
