North West neighbours Accrington Stanley stand between Wanderers and a trip to Wembley in the Papa Johns Trophy final.
Ian Evatt’s men have already overcome Barrow, Manchester United Under-21s and Portsmouth in the knockout rounds.
The Whites will be eager to bounce back from Saturday’s 1-0 defeat at Wycombe and secure a return to Wembley after more than a decade.
Meanwhile, Accrington beat Lincoln on penalties in the quarter-final following a 2-2 draw at Sincil Bank. Former Bolton loanee Lukas Jensen denied Danny Mandroiu and Max Sanders from the spot.
John Coleman’s men enter the game on the back of a 1-0 win against Shrewsbury, which saw them climb out of the relegation zone as they aim to maintain their League One status.
When and where is the game being played?
The semi-final tie takes place at the Wham Stadium on Wednesday, February 22 (8pm). Wanderers ran out 3-2 winners back in October, with Kieran Lee and Dapo Afolayan securing a memorable comeback as well as a Harvey Rodgers own goal.
Evatt’s men also came out on top at the University of Bolton Stadium last season, with Jon Dadi Bodvarsson bagging a brace that day.
Their last defeat in the fixture came in December 2021 when they were without a significant number of first-team players due to injury and illness.
