MK Dons boss Mark Jackson admits his side’s 5-0 thrashing at Wanderers “stings”.
Ricardo Santos, Luke Mbete and Gethin Jones were all on target for the Whites during a dominant first-half showing.
Eoin Toal and substitute Randell Williams also managed to get on the scoresheet after the break as Ian Evatt’s men climbed to third in the League One table.
Several of the goals came from set-pieces, and Jackson was frustrated with his side’s frailties from dead ball scenarios.
The 45-year-old said: “Particularly defensively from set plays, we are really disappointed to concede that amount of goals and look as vulnerable as we did,” he said.
“There is a lot of disappointment within that and also the defeat as well. We never like losing games and particularly losing by that amount of goals.
“It is stinging a little bit. It is stinging with the players as it should do. I have said to them we can’t let that last for too long. We have got to fix it, come back and be ready to go against Sheffield Wednesday.”
He added: “We know our jobs for set plays, we have certain responsibilities. I always challenge the players to be really aggressive in both boxes, particularly on the defensive side of it. We weren’t tonight and we fell short.”
The visitors had a couple of chances at the other end, with James Trafford making a smart stop to deny Jonathan Leko during the second half.
“It is being composed when we have good moments because we will always have good moments with the way we play and the way we set up,” said Jackson.
“We create chances and we have got to be composed in those moments, and we weren’t tonight. It is the key moments of the game which has cost us.”
Wanderers have now won their last five matches and have gone more than 16 hours without conceding at home – a run stretching back to early December.
The Whites are back in action on Saturday afternoon when they make the trip to Adams Park to take on promotion rivals Wycombe.
