Everton have appointed Lee Sargeson as their new manager of scouting operations, the former Bolton man confirmed on social media.
Sargeson spent a number of years with the Whites, initially as a performance analyst before taking up an Academy position during Dougie Freedman’s time in charge.
He also had a stint at Aston Villa but is best known for a five-year spell at Brighton where he held the position of senior scouting manager.
Sargeson succeeds Dan Purdy, who was recently promoted to head of recruitment at the Premier League outfit.
Former MK dons boss Dan Micciche has also joined the Toffees as their new player development lead to work with promising young talent.
Everton recently appointed former Burnley manager Sean Dyche as their new boss following Frank Lampard’s sacking after a poor run of results.
The Merseyside club currently sit 18th in the Premier League table following their 1-0 victory against leaders Arsenal at the weekend. James Tarkowski got the decisive goal against the Gunners with a clinical header.
Speaking after the game, Dyche said: “A win was important, how quickly we got it, and a clean sheet is fantastic.
“But come in Monday because (the players) will be working. It’s not about giving days off, the plan is the plan and it won’t change.
“My way of working is to embrace the past and build the future. The teams of the ‘80s could be powerful and direct but they could play.
“Now we have to do a version of it in modern style with analytics, recruitment, science and of course organisation.
“We have very good players here and I want to give them that platform and hopefully the freedom to then go on and play.”
