Daisy Hill will be hoping to boost their chances of moving back into the play-off places when they host Steeton in the North West Counties League First Division North at New Sirs tomorrow (3pm).

Since a 2-1 win against Euxton Villa on January 9, Daisy have gone four games without a win and scored just one goal.

And while joint manager Leighton Mills insists their promotion hopes are not over, he is also aware the goalscoring issue needs to be addressed.

“We could still finish on 65 points, there’s 11 games left and 33 points to play for,” said Mills. “But if we are going to go on a run like that, we need to show more quality up front and we need to try and bring more quality in to the club.

“We know what the problem is, but it’s so tough trying to fix that at this time of the season. So we have to look at possible targets, and see how it all works out from here, and in the meantime we have a lot of areas to work on in training.”

This weekend’s visitors Steeton head to New Sirs on the back of a fine 2-1 win at league leaders Pilkington last weekend, and will have the league’s 24-goal leading scorer Andrew Briggs leading the line up front.

Mills is under no illusions about the threat posed by the Yorkshire side.

He added: “They gained three points on us last Saturday, and are just three points behind us now. They are yet another team coming to play us on a good run, and if they win that might well take them into the play-off positions, if other results go their way. They have an in-form striker in Briggs who is flying, and it’s going to be another tough game for us.”
