New signing Luke Mbete says joining Wanderers was “the best step” for him as he aims to prove himself in League One.
The Manchester City youngster will spent the remainder of the campaign at the University of Bolton Stadium as the Whites aim to consolidate their place in the top six.
Mbete spent the first half of the season at Championship side Huddersfield, making six first-team appearances for the Terriers.
The Whites are currently fifth in the table and the defender is excited by the prospect of a promotion push.
He is also eligible for next month’s Papa Johns Trophy semi-final at Accrington and hopes he can play a part.
“Obviously, Man City have played a massive part in my journey so far,” Mbete told the club’s YouTube channel. “The next step is with Bolton and I feel like it is the best step for me right now.
“There is competition everywhere. Here we have a good squad, so everyone is going to be competing with each other. But I am excited to get started.
“It is a very good time to be here. We have got a semi-final soon and are fighting for promotion.”
Mbete becomes Wanderers’ sixth signing of the month after Randell Williams, Dan Nlundulu, Shola Shoretire, Cameron Jerome and Victor Adeboyejo.
The 19-year-old is already familiar with a couple of members of the Bolton squad including James Trafford, who he has played alongside at City.
“I have known Traff for a very long time so it’s good to connect with him and to be with him again,” he added.
“We have always had a good connection from a young age so it will be good to play with him again.
“Shola (Shoretire) is someone I have known for a while now. We played against from each other from young ages and we have been with each other at England, so we have got a good connection.
“It is always nice to see familiar faces. With the team we have got, I feel like they have welcomed me really well and I am excited to play with them and to push forward.”
