WANDERERS (3-4-1-2).

JAMES TRAFFORD…5.

Handling was good when it needed to be but Trafford seemed to lose all confidence in his kicking midway though the first half.

EOIN TOAL…5.5.

The toughest afternoon he has had in English football so far, faced with one of the division’s best attacking players in Tom Barkhuizen. Mixed success.

WILL AIMSON…5.5.

Had a shaky first half, swarmed by a high pressing Derby attack. Stabilised after the break but never really looked comfortable against David McGoldrick.

GEORGE JOHNSTON…5.

A definite off-day for the young defender who, along with Williams, failed to stem a constant tide of dangerous crosses coming from the Derby right. His distribution was off, too.

CONOR BRADLEY…5.

There have been a few recent signs of fatigue in the teenager’s game. Derby’s high-energy game seemed to sap every last ounce of his energy.

AARON MORLEY…5.

Lost in a hectic midfield and did not get the chance to dictate the tempo as he has so often in the last month.

KYLE DEMPSEY…5.

Virtually anonymous in the first 45 minutes, better in the second as he started filling in some of the gaps. Still well short of his best.

RANDELL WILLIAMS…4.5.

After a couple of encouraging performances this was a backward step for the left wing-back. Thankfully, he won’t come up against this sort of quality every week. Off the pace.

KIERAN LEE…4.5.

Had been praised to the hilt for his display against Portsmouth, and will know that this did not come close. Not anywhere near his best.

DION CHARLES…5.

You have to give Charles some props for keeping going, even creating the goal for Sadlier late on. He hardly got near the Derby goal, though, which was frustrating.

DAN NLUNDULU…5.5.

His impact on the game faded well before he was subbed for Shoretire but there were some promising moments on his first Wanderers start.

Subs: Shoretire 63 (for Lee), Kachunga 73 (for Nlundulu), Sadlier 87 (for R Williams) Not used: Jones, MJ Williams, Santos, Sheehan.

Derby (4-3-3): Wildsmith, Smith, Davies, Forsyth, Roberts; Bird, Hourihane, Knight; Mendez-Laing, McGoldrick, Barkhuizen.

Subs: Springett 75 (for Barkhuizen), Collins 75 (for McGoldrick), Dobbin 83 (for Mendez-Laing), Thompson 89 (for Knight).

Not used: Loach, Stearman, Rooney.

Referee: Jeremy Simpson – 8/10: There really wasn’t a big call for the ref to make. He kept the game moving nicely.

Attendance: 30,004 (3,139).
