The Burnden Road Runners club Championship is always a hotly-contested series of races with members showing their competitive side while chasing those ever-important points needed to qualify at or near the top of the table.
Six or more races were needed and the top four men were: Andy Dunleavy, followed by Paul Duke and Lee White and Steve Nolan in joint third.
For the ladies, Gwen Kinloch was first ahead of Sarah Watton and Lyndsay Darbyshire.
Paul Duke was top of the Off-Road Championship – no doubt well-practised from his cross-country efforts. Pete Hopley and Andy Dunleavy were awarded second and third place respectively.
The Ladies’ Off-Road winners were led by Anne Ferguson in first place followed by Kinloch and Darbyshire in second and third place respectively.
Male Vet Category winner this year was awarded to a pair of super runners – White and Nolan, while Stephen Horsman took away the award for Male Vet over-50.
Female Vet Category winner was a swift Watton and Darbyshire collected Female Vet over-50.
A total of 34 Burndeners took part in parkruns all over the north this week.
Suleman Badat was swift again at Peel Parkrun, finishing in fifth position with 19:11. Sarah Brown crossed the line in 33:58, followed by Carol Richardson (34:39) and Michelle Livesey (36:44).
Tom Stratton was riding high once again, finishing sixth position at Leverhulme Park in 22:09. Chasing him, and still in the top 10 in ninth, was Andy Dunleavy, in 23:08.
First lady for Burnden this week was a regular in the echelons of parkrun results, Katherine Baines, coming in at 26:28.

Burnden’s Entwistles took on the Skipton Skidaddle 10-miler and performed admirably.
The route takes in a canal path route to Saltaire, which encompasses the fantastic views of the town.
Simon finished the course in 1hr 34mins 1sec and Jennifer followed in 1:57:28.
